Blue eyes, mysterious, vast, captivating, luminous blue as the ocean; waters of clarity, at times warm, at others more frigid than ice...
...He wonders how many tears he has held back to fill the voids.
And how many more to keep them masked.

Kamijo's childhood was normal, fairly normal for someone diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder. As only one of three offspring, he received only enough attention to be reared suitably in his family, never the center of attention or the outcast next to his younger sister and older brother. He wasn’t doted on but neither were they; his parents were fair people, very organized and structured like the household. Alas, of all the things they were they were not genuinely loving parents and it showed on the surface in their detached dispositions.

He didn't mind. They were still nice people who tolerated his problem graciously, thus he tolerated as well. Come his adolescence and Kamijo had grown into the essence of an ideal son; studious, courteous, kind, classy and handsome to boot- a role model for young men far and wide. As a rule of thumb he treated everyone with equivalency, another trait which kept him in high favor among his peers, parents, teachers, whomever he sought to please.

Gone to ruin when Kamijo was caught red handed in bed with his design partner, a partner of a couple things, romantic interest the other.

True to the saying, word gets around quickly, complaints by horror stricken mothers even more rapidly; Shion's was not at all pleased regarding the scandal accidentally discovered.

It was a long, tormenting evening in the confines of his father’s degrading glare.

"My son is not homosexual."

Well... that was technically incorrect. Females still appealed to him as much as his own gender did.

"I love him."

Unfortunately, he was the only one who did by the following day; Shion had other things on his mind, certainly more important. Love was evidently a frivolous thing, easily gotten over as it was getting into.

"I shouldn't upset my family over this, you shouldn't either."

Upset your family or my family? Does it actually matter?

No, so he gave up trying to make it so.

"Very well."

The last of romance. There were other relationships later in life, however, none were the same, they couldn’t even be called different, they were just... nothing. Again, Kamijo gave up, this time for a longer term which involved graduating with a degree and putting his skills into use in the fashion industry. Work and a well paying job distracted him from spells of depression, nevertheless, it didn’t feel gratifying enough when he made significant accomplishments, something was wrong.

Changes seemed crucial, lots of personal ones. Assessing his problems, Kamijo took them one by one and countered them, starting with leaving his old life in Japan prior to departing more than halfway around the world.

"What has brought you to France?"
"I seek new perspectives."

France, foreign territory thousands of miles away from the other land, it was perfect, stealing his heart from the moment he laid star struck eyes through the window of his cab en route to Cannes. Passably versed in the French language, Kamijo established a comfortable and quaint living in no time, assisting in a café as a waiter to sustain his serene life. For four years he was content, at the peak of his happiness when sightseeing or doing something productive, sadly, he was unsatisfied with his new life in a way; he couldn't challenge himself there.

He had to go back and face his demons.

April 2008, Kamijo returned to Japan, relocating in suburban Kyoto where he found interest in the last place he could ever see himself servicing, Bakuzen Byouin, a mental hospital. The morbid thoughts of what he may be up against almost changed his mind, however, this time there was no giving up; he wanted this.

"What has brought you from France?"
"I seek new challenges."

Little did the new maid know that the greatest challenge of all was waiting for him under the same roof.
